Open enrollment is a time period when you can enroll in an employer or individual health insurance plan. The open enrollment period in 2018 is shorter than it way in previous year. It began on November 1, 2017 and will run until December 15, 2017. As long as you enroll by December 15, 2017, you can enjoy coverage beginning on January 1, 2018.

Qualifying life events include the loss of health insurance through Medicare eligibility or a job, household changes such as marriage or divorce, and a change in your home address. If you do qualify for SEP, you must enroll in a plan in 60 days.
